Two Participants

Tracey and Wayne are two imagined ESPORT Users. Have a look at some of the work these two people have done so far with ESPORT. Both of them have learned a lot about their readiness for the work they want to do. And both are ready to show employers what they can do.

Tracey Bennet

Tracey Bennet is pretty sure she knows what she wants to do. She wants to be a Pet Groomer. She has successful work experience and some of her life experience is directly related to Pet Grooming. When her résumé went to Pet Smart, they immediately wanted her to come in for an interview. Tracey's résumé

Wayne Haskell

Wayne Haskell is having trouble deciding what he wants to do. Right now is working at Wendy's. They're a good employer and his sister got him the job through a contact. But says he'd like to be working in retail - maybe in shipping, where he could get more regular hours. Wayne's résumé

How I Meet The Essential Skills For This Position

Reading Text
I have to listen to my boss to find out what I am supposed to do. I have to listen to my co-workers and learn to control my temper when everyone wants to be first with their order. I have to talk with co-workers on the shift before me or the shift after me to make sure we are cooperating.

Writing
At Denny's I had to had to write a report when one of my friends came in drunk and went on a rampage. At Wendy's I write an explanation if something goes wrong.

Numeracy
I write down how much inventory I use and figure out how much the next guy needs. I estimate how long it will take me to clean up at the end of the shift and how much time they should pay me for.

Oral Communication
I have to listen to my boss to find out what I am supposed to do. I have to listen to my co-workers and learn to control my temper when everyone wants to be first with their order. I have to talk with co-workers on the shift before me or the shift after me to make sure we are cooperating.

Problem Solving
I figure out what to do when we do not have enough supplies. At Denny's, I had to figure out what to do with the garbage when the shift before me didn't put it out or when the garbage collectors were on strike. I came up with creative solutions.

Decision Making
Every morning I have to make a decision whether to go to work that day or not. When I get there and somebody else is not there who should be, I have to decide how much of his or her work I need to do, and how much I should let pile up for the next guy.

Job Task Planning
At Denny's, I had to plan when to clean the toilets. Sometimes when we knew a basketball game was going to be over, I knew I would have to clean it several times. This meant making decisions about when to do the other things I should be doing while I was cleaning the toilets. It also meant making decisions about stocking supplies.

Use of Memory
At Wendy's I have to remember the names of all the people I work with, especially the bosses. I have to know the names of all the specials. I have to remember what to do when and how often. I have to remember my work schedule.

Finding Information
At Denny's I had to know how to find all the different bosses and their telephone numbers so I could tell them when there was trouble.

Continuous Learning
I took a Life Saving course at the Y and passed it on the second try. I was so good that they asked me to come in to demonstrate when they were giving the course again.

Critical Thinking

Document Use
